Rüppell’s foxes help keep rodent and insect populations under control. These pests can spread disease and damage crops, so the foxes are actually helping people, too.
In many parts of the Middle East and North Africa, Rüppell’s foxes live close to people, often near farms or villages. When tolerated and protected, they thrive, helping to control pests while adding to the natural heritage of the region.

I live in desert regions across North Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. You can also find me as far east as Pakistan and as far northwest as Israel and Jordan. I’m pretty good at getting around!
Omnivore
I’m an omnivore, which means I eat both animals and plants. My diet includes small mammals, reptiles, eggs, insects, and other little critters like spiders and scorpions. I also dig up roots and tubers when I need a plant-based snack.
