Small-Spotted Genet

Content Image

Scientific Name: Genetta genetta

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Genets can rotate their ankles 180 degrees, allowing them to climb down trees head-first!
  • They are extremely agile, leaping up to 2 meters in a single bound.
  • Their long tails act as a balancing pole, helping them navigate branches like tightrope walkers.

EVERY SPECIES COUNT

Even though they are not currently endangered, genets face pressure from habitat loss and road accidents. Emirates Park Zoo plays a role in educating visitors about the importance of small carnivores in ecosystem balance.
