Ball pythons are nocturnal and solitary creatures. Males tend to display more semi-arboreal behaviors, whilst females tend towards terrestrial behaviors.
Ball pythons are known for the protective mechanism of “balling,” where they form a tight ball with the head at the center in response to threats, earning them their common name, “ball python.”
EVERY SPECIES COUNT
Ball pythons are primarily threatened in the wild by habitat loss, hunting for food and traditional medicine, and high-level exploitation for the international pet trade.
