Indian elephants are the largest land animals in Asia.
They are highly intelligent, capable of empathy, self-recognition, and forming lifelong social bonds.
Elephants use over 70 vocal and physical signals, from rumbles to trunk touches, to communicate.
Their trunks contain over 40,000 individual muscles, making them incredibly precise tools for feeding, drinking, and social interaction.
EVERY SPECIES COUNT
Indian elephants are endangered due to habitat loss, human–elephant conflict, and fragmentation of migration routes. Their populations have decreased dramatically over the past decades.
