Capybaras are the world’s largest rodents, weighing up to 140 pounds (65 kg) and measuring up to 4.3 feet (1.3 meters) in length. They live in social groups and are excellent swimmers, with partially webbed feet to navigate through their wetland habitats. Adapted for grazing, they have strong teeth that constantly grow and a specialized digestive system to break down the tough fibers of their plant-based diet.

Capybaras are currently not endangered or threatened, but they do face challenges such as habitat loss due to deforestation and agricultural expansion, as well as hunting for their meat and skin.
