  • The Green Anaconda is the heaviest snake in the world and can weigh over 200 kilograms.
  • Green Anacondas spend most of their lives in water, where their eyes and nostrils sit on top of their heads to help them stay hidden while hunting.
  • Female Green Anacondas are much larger than males and can be several times heavier.

Although Green Anacondas are currently listed as Least Concern, they face threats from habitat destruction, pollution of wetlands, and hunting for their skin. Protecting freshwater ecosystems throughout South America helps ensure the long-term survival of this remarkable species.
