Scientific Name: Mandrillus sphinx

DID YOU KNOW?

• Mandrills are the largest monkeys in the world, built with power and presence!
• Males have incredibly vibrant blue and red facial markings, which get even brighter when they’re excited.
• Their canine teeth can grow up to 6 cm long, but they mostly use them for display, not aggression.
• Mandrills travel in huge groups called hordes, sometimes numbering over 200 individuals.

Mandrills are threatened by habitat loss and hunting, pushing their populations downward across Central Africa. As forest specialists, they are extremely sensitive to disappearing habitats.
