Their long, curved horns can reach 1 meter in length, and both males and females have them.
They can tolerate extreme heat and rarely need to drink water.
Once extinct in the wild, they are now being successfully reintroduced thanks to global conservation programs.

The scimitar-horned oryx is currently listed as Endangered by the IUCN Red List, a significant recovery from its previous status of “Extinct in the Wild”. This reclassification is a result of successful international conservation efforts. Emirates Park Zoo supports awareness of desert species and their fragile ecosystems.
