DID YOU KNOW?

  • Squirrel monkeys are among the most agile primates, able to leap up to 2 meters between branches.
  • They have the largest brain-to-body ratio of any primate, even larger than humans!
  • Their hands are specially adapted for grasping tiny insects and fruit, making them excellent foragers.
  • They live in large troops that can number up to 500 individuals in the wild.

EVERY SPECIES COUNT

Squirrel monkeys face pressures from habitat destruction, deforestation, and the illegal pet trade. Even though they are not endangered, their populations in the wild are decreasing in certain regions.
