At Emirates Park Zoo and Resort (EPZR), our commitment to sustainability extends to our agricultural practices. Our sustainable farm is a cornerstone of our efforts to ensure animal well-being while minimizing our environmental impact.
Increased Grass Production for Animal Feed
In 2023, we significantly enhanced our grass production, increasing the yield from 156,000 kg in 2022 to 192,164 kg. This boost in production ensures that we can provide high-quality, nutritious feed for our animals, promoting their health and well-being. By growing our own animal feed, we reduce our reliance on external suppliers, thereby decreasing our carbon footprint associated with transportation and procurement.
Utilization of Compost
Our sustainable farm also incorporates compost produced within the zoo. By recycling organic waste into nutrient-rich compost, we enhance soil fertility and promote sustainable farming practices. This closed-loop system not only supports our agricultural productivity but also aligns with our broader waste reduction and environmental conservation goals.
Commitment to Environmental Stewardship
Through these initiatives, we demonstrate our dedication to responsible resource management and environmental stewardship. Our sustainable farm is a testament to how innovative agricultural practices can support both animal welfare and ecological sustainability.
